Cooking Time: 10 minutes

This is a Guest Recipe courtesy of BBC Good Food.

Flatbreads are usually made yeast free and will serve beautifully as Naan to go with curries etc, or simply to go with a range of dips.   They can be plain, or you can add spices and herbs and nothing beats garlic butter!

Ingredients

  • 300g self-raising flour, plus extra for dusting
  • Half a teaspoon baking powdr
  • 150g natural yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Melted ghee or butter, for brushing (flavour with minced garlic)
  • Cumin seeds, garlic, coriander, chillies, dried herbs - optional extras

AND THIS IS WHAT YOU DO...

  1. Combine the flour, baking powder, yoghurt and oil with one teaspoon salt and 2 tablespoons water and knead into a dough.

  2. Tip on to a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes.   Divide into four.

  3. Put a heavy-based frying pan over a high heat.

  4. Roll out dough pieces, brush with ghee or butter then scatter over spices and or garlic and herbs.

  5. Fold each piece of dough over on itself, then roll into an oval.

  6. Fry for one minute on each side until golden and slightly charred in spots.

  7. Brush flatbreads with more melted butter or ghee, then serve with a curry or dips.
